中频炉也称之为中频电炉，根据加热功能的不同、用途不同分为中频加热炉、中频熔炼炉以及金属调质感应加热炉，这些加热炉、熔炼炉一般统称为中频炉或者中频电炉。

电弧炉的体积大，至少是3吨以上，大幅度的厂家会选用电弧炉，出钢较纯。
